Cecil H. Bullard, MD, FACP was born and raised in Selma, Al. He attended Auburn University where he graduated with a major in Chemistry and a minor in Biology and Physics in 1970. He graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham School of Medicine in 1974. After Medical School, he was commissioned by the United States Air Force where he was Chief of Aerospace Medicine at K.I. Sawyer AFB, Marquette, Michigan. He finished his Internal Medicine training at Valley Medical Center (University Medical Center)in 1979 and opened his private practice of Internal Medicine in January of 1980. In 1995 he left private practice to help establish Northwest Medical Group.
What is an Internist? Is it the same as an Intern—NO! An Internist is a medical specialty like a Cardiologist (Heart Doctor), Gastroenterologist (Stomach Doctor) or Nephrologists (Kidney Doctor), who treats adults. An Internist doesn’t treat babies, or perform surgery but he does just about everything else.
Dr. Bullard looks on his practice as a partnership between the doctor and the patient. One of his mentors told him that if you listen to the patient long enough, they will tell you the diagnosis. This piece of advice has served him well through the years.
